A rare complete set of five volumes, all first editions save for Vol. 2 (which is believed to be the second edition). The set comprises the following: Part 1 - The Coasts of Essex and Suffolk, Containing Descriptions of Every Creek from The Thames to Aldborough (undated, but with a Preface dated August 1892); Part 2 - The Coasts of Kent, Sussex, Hants, The Isle of Wight, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, and the Scilly Isles, Containing Descriptions of Every Creek, Harbour and Roadstead from The Nore to Tresco, Isles of Scilly (1899 "Revised Edition" ); Part 3 - The Coast of Brittany, Including the Departments of Finisterre, The Morbihan and the Lower Loire, Containing Descriptions of Every Creek, Harbour and Roadstead from L'Abervrach to St Nazaire, with an Account of the Loire and its Celebrated Castles (1894); Part 4 - The Irish Sea and the Bristol Channel, Including the Western Coasts of England and Wales, The South Coast of Scotland, The East Coast of Ireland and the Isle of Man, Containing Descriptions of Every Creek, Harbour and Roadstead, Suitable for Yachting Purposes, from Lands End to The Mull of Galloway, from Belfast Lough to Wicklow, and in the Isle of Man (1895); Part 5 - The West Coasts of Scotland, The Orkneys, and the West Coast of the North Sea, Containing Descriptions of Every Creek, Harbour and Roadstead, Suitable for Yachting Purposes, from The Mull of Galloway to Duncansby Head, with a Brief Account of the Coast from The Orkneys to The Thames (1896). All frontispieces, plates and charts (as listed in each volume) are present. Burgundy cloth covers with gilt pictorials and titling, each volume with some fading to the covers, rubbing and some light chipping to extremities, bumped corners, and general wear commensurate with age (Part 2 has more significant rubbing/creasing to front cover). Internally, there is some tanning/staining of endpapers (burgundy colouring from covers of Part 2 has stained the margins of the preliminaries). Part 1 has light foxing to endpapers, and one chart in Part 1 is loose. Some hinges are cracked in Parts 2 and 4. Pages 199-202 plus one chart are loose in Part 3. Ink staining to lower page edges of Part 4. Neatly written name and date to half title page of Part 5.
