Science in Primary Schools: The Multicultural Dimension

£7.99

Product description

Science lessons provide a rich opportunity for children to learn about their own and other cultures, yet little has been made of this in the literature of primary education. This collection of essays by practitioners and researchers with wide-experience of multi-ethnic schools and schools in other countries fills that gap. The first part of the book provides a wide variety of practical ideas for use in both all-white and multi-ethnic classrooms and it shows teachers how the opportunities that exist can be exploited within the constraints of the National Curriculum and how the resources and implications that arise from such innovation can be addressed. In a second, shorter section the contributors look at the wider policy questions underlying the multicultural approach to primary science. Bibliography included. In good condition, covers lightly discoloured. Pen inscription on title page; pages otherwise clean and unmarked.
