3 books from the "Science of Life" series", printed by Cassell 1934-37. This series was of the constituent parts of the earlier single volume, first issued by Cassell in 1931. Written by HG Wells, his son "Gip", and Julian Huxley, the series aimed at presenting the lay reader with a complete survey of the main results of biological science. Illustrations by LR Brightwell and others.

Sold together here as one lot. All 3 with red covers, clean, gilt lettering to spine; no DJs. Comprising:

1) 271 pp. Very Good. "Evolution - Fact and Theory" - 1934 first edition, 3rd book in the series.
Bumping to top and bottom of spine, and minor bumping to cover corners. Block clean. Binding tight. Minor foxing to both end papers. Pages clean, with no marks, annotations or tears.

2) 222 pp. Good. "Reproduction, Heredity, and the Development of Sex" - 1935 first edition, 4th book in the series.
Minor bumping to top and bottom of spine, and to cover corners. Block clean. Binding tight. Minor foxing to both end papers. Pages clean, with no annotations or tears. One specific moisture stain to RFEP, 1.5 cm across, where the stain footprint has gone thru the prior 10-15 pages before disappearing.

3) 205 pp. Very Good. "Biology of the Human Race" - 1937 first edition, 9th (final) book in the series.
Bumping to top and bottom of spine, and minor bumping to cover corners. Block clean. Binding tight. Some foxing to both end papers and pastedowns. Pages clean, with no marks, annotations or tears.

These are a delightful set of books from almost a century ago, in this very collectable series. Containing b/w photos and illustrations, they give a fascinating insight into the science of biology at that time.
