Volume 1 contains the Journals of Captain Scott on his ill-fated 1910-1913 expedition to the South Pole.
Volume 2 contains the Reports of the Journeys and Scientific Work undertaken by Dr E.A. Wilson and the surviving members of the expedition.
Arranged by Leonard Huxley, with a preface by Sir Clements R. Markham. Photogravure frontispieces, 6 original sketches in photogravure by Dr Wilson, 18 coloured plates (16 from drawings by Dr Wilson), 260 full- or half-page illustrations from photographs taken by Herbert Ponting and other members of the expedition, panoramas and maps. The blue boards, with their gilt lettering, are cleaner and tidier than are often found, with a little bumping at the extremities and slight scuffing on the spine folds; the pages and fore-edges have some foxing. This third edition bore no changes from the first, which was a remarkable piece of book-production, conveying the full account of Scott's astonishing and heroic expedition.
