Set of Fifteen First Edition Very Scarce Novels

Product description

Matching set of fifteen very scarce first edition novels published by John Long in the first decade of the twentieth century. All books have red cloth hard covers with gilt titles on the spines and fronts, slight discolouration of the spines and some bumping at their tops and bases. Boards show little wear apart from a few of the corners. Slightly darkened top page edges, untrimmed fore and lower edges which are foxed. The first and last free endpapers are tanned. Some of the title pages have some foxing spots. No inscriptions and binding is tight. The titles are: The Horse and the Maid by Arthur Cowden (1906); Savile Gilchrist M.D. by Helen M Nightingale (1906); A Yankee Napoleon by John F Macpherson (1907); A Light-Hearted Rebellion by John Langfield (1907); A King of Mars (1908); In the Portion of Jezreel by J Leonard-Cowper (1908); The Flying Scroll by Hugh Mant (1908); Vane Royal by The Hon Mrs Walter R D Forbes (1908); The Church and Thisbe Grey by John Le Breton (1908); The Fault by C T Podmore (1909); Harry of Athol by R H Forster (1909); Cackling Geese by Brenda Girvin (1909); The Play and the Players by Christian Hart (1909); Divided Houses by F C Gardiner (1909); A Forsaken Garden by Jessie Ainsworth Davis (1909).

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
