Statistical Methods for Research Workers, 13th edition

£24.99

Product description

Hardcover with navy boards, published by Oliver and Boyd in the Biological Monographs and Manuals series, number V. Thirteenth edition (revised), reprinted 1963. By Sir Ronald A. Fisher.

“The aim of the work is to give research workers means whereby they can apply statistical tests to numerical data they have accumulated from their laboratory investigations and the greater part of the book is occupied by numerical examples […] The subjects covered include:

- Diagrams
- Tests of Goodness of Fit
- Independence and Homogeneity
- Tests of Significance of Means, Differences of Means, and Regression Coefficients
- The Correlation Coefficient
- Intraclass Correlations and the Analysis of Variance
- Principles of Statistical Estimation
- Sources used for Data and Methods.”

Ronald Aylmer Fisher (1890-1962) was a prominent British statistician and geneticist who made important contributions to the development of both fields in the first half of the twentieth century. He worked at Rothamsted Experimental Station, where the analysis of crop data allowed him to develop the analysis of variance and the F distribution theory. Later he was based at the universities of London and Cambridge before retiring to Australia. He was knighted in 1952. He was a supporter of eugenics.

Hardback with dust jacket. Jacket is unclipped but has some chips, small tears, and discolouration. The book has a previous owner’s inscription on the front endpaper but remains in excellent condition.
