The book is bound in sand-coloured cloth on stiff boards which are dust stained with cream endpapers. Spine titles and the front cover T & H dolphin design are in gilt. pp 72 with 145 illustrations in colour or black and white. The copy is tight and the internal pages are clean. Red biro text to front endpaper. The size of the book in inches is 13.0 x 9.8 and it weighs 1.75 kg. As to content, the publisher claimed in 1960 that this was one of the most original and absorbing art books to appear in decades. It gives a fresh and intimate insight in to the lives and works of 39 modern masters, all associated with the School of Paris.
