The Aussie Crusaders: With Allenby in Palestine

£29.99

Product description

The Aussie Crusaders: With Allenby in Palestine
Joseph Bowes
Illustrated in colour by Wal Paget
Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press, 1920.
Hardback; 135 x 190 mm; pictorial boards (front) and spine with titles in black on spine (faded) and front cover; xii & 270 pages plus 32 pages of “A Select List of Books for Young People”. No dust jacket. Four colour illustrations.
The book is in fair condition. The binding is sound but there is slight cracking along the gutter here and there between signatures, and between the back endpapers. The covers are scuffed, grubby, and bumped with fraying at the ends of the spine and wear along the joints. Page ends tanned. A bookplate on the front paste-down endpaper: “EVESHAM Baptist Sunday School PRIZE AWARDED TO Chris Gale For Regular Attendance in 1924”. Tanning and foxing internally.
“Jock Smith and M’Thirst, two brave ANZAC’s, have been captured by the Bedouins and are being traded to their enemy, the Turks. But no matter the situation these Aussies can’t be kept down for long, and before they know it they’ll have a hand in turning the tide of war. In The Aussie Crusaders you can experience the Great War as one of the troops in this captivating tale that takes you behind enemy lines, on daring desert escapes, and finally leading the troops into battle as the Allies attempt to take Palestine.”
The text reflects the attitudes and language of its time.
