The Clinician's Guide to 12-Step Programs: How, When and Why to Refer a Client

WAS £14.99 £7.49

Product description

This hard cover book is in good condition. There are no internal markings or annotations on the text pages but an ink stain is visible on the book's last blank page (see photo). Externally, the book's dust jacket shows some signs of sun damage with portions of the cover appearing faded. The dust jacket is otherwise in good condition and intact. Underneath, the black hard cover with gilt lettering spine is in good condition with only one small stain noticeable on the front cover (see photo). The top and bottom of the spine are slightly bumped.

'This practical manual provides clinicians with a comprehensive overview of major 12-step programs. Parker and Guest, through the use of detailed description, case vignettes, and clinical examples assist the clinician in assessing and referring clients to any 12-step program. One of the unique features of this book is a description of how 12-step program philosophy aligns with eight major psychotherapy orientations. Another feature is the emphasis on integration of the client's individual needs and ego structure with the appropriateness and timing of a referral to a 12-step program within the overall therapeutic process. In this day of managed care, it is essential for clinicians to make informed referrals. This book bridges the gap between the desire to refer and a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of the various programs.'
