"A tale" by Mrs. Elizabeth Hamilton, published by Milner and Sowerby in 1853. The story of a retired servant, Mrs Mason, who seeks to improve the lives and morals of her distant relatives, with description of life in the Scottish Highlands which highlighted the need for improvements.

In good used condition for age, bound in blue cloth with embossed design front and back and gold cottage to front with gold lettering. Corners and head and tail of spine bumped, and edges of boards worn. Cocked. Block has gold edges. Hinge cracked internally at title page. Coloured (and gold) frontispiece. A small item measuring 3.25" by 5".
