The Cricket Clubs of Christchurch: A History by Tom Kelly (Signed by Author)

£9.99

Product description

Paperback/softcover book. Appears to be self-published, unpaginated, perhaps between 160 to 200 pages published we believe in the 1980s. The binding which is intact but not in excellent condition, (although it has possibly been like this from new), is a little shelf-cocked and there are spots of foxing on the edges. The card covers/wraps are a little larger than the pages, so this has taken a little curling and soft creasing to edges. The spine has a single crease along the length. Internally the pages are clean and unmarked but there are a few that are perhaps not fully attached to the spine.

"Best Wishes Tom Kelly" is signed on immediate title page.

This little gem of local sporting history is we understand sought-after and difficult to acquire. Good condition for age despite above comments.

The contents include An appraisal of local cricket, reminisces and anecdotes and chapters on each of the following: Mudeford Cricket Club; Culmore and De Zoete Cups; Highcliffe Cricket Club; Club and County; Bransgore Cricket Club; West Hants Water Co. Cricket Club; Somerford Clubs; Christchurch Cricket Club; The Hurn Clubs; Christchurch Sporting Club. There is authoritative text, together with a good selection of photographs and diagrams to compliment this, and for anyone interested in the local history aspect, the pages are interspersed with contemporary ads of local firms etc.
