A late Victorian edition of this sequence of sixteenth century woodcuts ascribed to Holbein, with an introductory biographical Sketch.

Burgundy cloth, gilt decorative spine titles. Slightly bumped and marked, spine sunned, faint ex-lib access number lower end. Binding secure. Slight general browning, mark of library label removal front pastedown, offsetting to feps. Hinge split with glue marks plus neat pencil notes 2nd title page and facing page, small access number to reverse. A few small marks but otherwise internally clean and well preserved, no other ex-lib stamps. 15pp, then 48 b&w plates plus text to facing pp, all printed on one side only; illus first title page plus portrait frontis.
