Publisher:A & C Black ,1st edition, 1903. Hardback, 210 pages, profusely illustrated with tissue guarded full page colour plates by Mortimer Menpes. No dustjacket. Cover, in decorated brown and blue cloth boards and spine with gilt titling to spine and front and gilt peacock decoration to front, is in fair to good condition for its age with fraying to spine extremities and rubbing to edges and bumping to corners. Internally the book is in fair to good condition commensurate with age. Light tanning to text pages. Some foxing to endpapers and here and there throughout book. The lovely full page illustrations are clean, clear and bright. Colour frontispiece with its tissue guard is detached but present and in good condition. Ditto illustrations at pages 99, 142 and 169. Binding is starting to separate at page 81 but book overall is firm. In summary, this is a lovely volume and a fascinating and beautifully illustrated account of travels in India by Mortimer and Dorothy Menpes at the height of the British Raj.
