The Education of Desire by Clifford Harper

£14.99

Product description

For more than a decade the drawings of Clifford Harper have illuminated and informed the radical movement. The Education of Desire brings together for the first time the best of his work. Reproducing over 40 drawings this collection displays the development of this artists concerns, from the utopianism of the early 1970s to a discovery and engagement with city life in the 1980s. Throughout is a commitment to revolution, love and pleasure. As well as an illustrator of magazines and books Clifford Harper is known as a comic strip artist. The Education of Desire shows the most important example of his comic art. An intimate and candid interview between Clifford Harper and american poet Adam Cornford discusses the connections between his life and work, acknowledging his debt to earlier committed artists, such as Frans Masereel, and locates his own efforts within the radical artistic tradition that stretches from nineteenth century Bohemianism through German Expressionism to the Situationists of our own era.

Slight fading to front cover but otherwise in very good condition.
