Published 1900 new edition revised by Edward Step. Volume IV. Illustrated with three hundred and nineteen coloured plates figuring upwards of 1500 species.

Cloth boards with leather on the spine and corners. The spine leather which has gilt lettering is wearing thin on the edges and it has split through to the binding on one edge and chipping through to the binding cloth at the top also. The boards are scuffed and marked, and especially worn on the leather corners.

Inside are decorative endpapers with cracked hinges. However the binding is firm and all the pages are securely bound in. There is some foxing of the endpapers and the title page, but after that the pages are mostly clean and unmarked by foxing or anything else.
