The Golden Years, 1903-1913

£6.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

This 1977 paperback is subtitled as 'A Pictorial Survey of the Most Interesting Decade in English History, Recorded in Contemporary Photographs and Drawings.' It is the most fascinating record of Edwardian life just before the First World War, depicting the domestic and working situations of people from all walks of life. The author, Gordon Winter, accompanies each photograph, cartoon or advertisement with an often wry explanation of the context. This edition shows considerable wear and tear and the black & white paper cover is rubbed to white along all edges and the spine. The spine is particularly worn. The pages are yellowing slightly. However, the volume is intact and the text is unmarked. It would make a good study/research/reference book.

Oxfam Bookshop Hexham

We relocated in January 2016 to larger premises and are now able to offer a wider range of books and music (you can come and check out your musical choices in our listening booth and also find out a lot more about Oxfam's work.). We have a new local interest section, more space for history and have extended our craft and arts offer.  We also sell cards, fair trade food and ethical cleaning and beauty products.

Hexham is a market town situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley - the ideal stopping off point before exploring Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Housesteads and the Temple of Mithras at Carrawburgh.
