The History of British Art

£80.00

Product description

The History of British Art
In 3 volumes: 600-1600; 1600-1870; 1870 - now
David Bindman, general editor
Tate Publishing, London, 2008.
Hardbacks with plain dark green slipcase; 245 x 305 mm; dark green boards with gold titles on spine; 600-1600: 296 pages; 1600-1870: 248 pages; 1870 – now: 256 pages. Original unclipped dust jackets. Profusely illustrated throughout, mostly in colour.
The books are in very good condition beautifully presented, printed on good quality paper. The bindings are sound. The slipcase is a little scuffed and the base shows some signs of shelf wear. The contents are generally clean and bright with only significant crumpling and creasing affecting one page (19/20) in the third volume.
Spanning 1000 years of British history, volume I takes a completely fresh and innovative approach to the rich legacy of art in England, Scotland, and Wales from the Anglo-Saxons to the Reformation and beyond. Volume II traces the story of what is often considered a “Golden Age”. An international group of expert authors presents the history of British art from the Reformation period through to the birth of the modern era. The final volume covers the period from the High Victorian era to the post-modern present. It explores a time in which British art changed more rapidly and more extensively than at any other.
These beautiful books will have an immediate appeal to art lovers and those wishing to learn more about the changes that have influenced British art over the last 1500 years.
