The Landowner's and Agent's Practical Guide

£39.99

Product description

The Landowner’s and Agent’s Practical Guide

Thomas de Moleyns

E Ponsonby, Dublin, 1862; 4th edition, revised and enlarged.

Bound by John Mowat, Dublin.

Hardback; 135 x 200 mm; decorative blind-stamped blue boards with titles in gold on spine and front cover; xxiv & 503 pages. No dust jacket.

The book is in fair condition. The binding is sound. The covers have some marks and bumping with a little wear along the joints. Page end tanning, and tanning of the front and back matter with a little foxing and some marks. Title page annotated in fading ink: “John Cromier March 1862”. Some ragged edges where leaves have been irregularly cut. Pages 117/120 uncut. A few marks and dog ears here and there. Closed tear bottom of page 399/400.

This edition precedes the edition (6th) published in 1872 shortly before the outbreak of the Land War in Ireland. Nonetheless the 4th edition still provides a history of land tenure in Ireland, explains exactly what the legal rights and obligations of the landlord and land agent were towards their tenants as they then were before the Land War changed everything.
