The Life and Correspondence of Admiral Sir William Sidney Smith GCB

£50.00

Product description

This is Volume II only of the work published in two volumes. Half leather over decorative boards, with five raised bands and gilt titling to the spine. The front board is detached, but otherwise the book is tightly bound. The upper 5mm of the spine is missing, the leather at the tail of the spine is heavily worn and partly lifting away from the spine, and there is significant other wear to the leather, particularly at the rear spinal margin. There is some light surface wear to the boards and board edges. The end papers are in the same decorative pattern as the boards. There is an ex libris label on the front pastedown. The upper page edges are gilt, there is some foxing to the other page edges. There is foxing to the first few pages, including frontispiece and title page, and to the last few pages, and occasionally elsewhere. The inner margins of pages 248/9 are stained from the marker ribbon.
