Original black cloth covers with gilt lettering to spine and gilt armorial crest to front covers, an amalgam of the Dreadnought's and Lord Fisher's. Wear and tear to covers and spine with 2 inch tear to left of spine at join with back board, and water stain to front. Foxing to page edges. Bumping to corners, personal inscription on front endpaper. B/W frontispiece of Lord Fisher plus 22 more b/w photographs. Volume I covers the first part of his life from 1841 - 1904. Includes pull-out line drawings of the Dreadnought, Chapter X.
