Cover, in fawn cloth boards with red titling to front and spine, is in good/very good, clean condition commensurate with age with just a little shelfwear to bottom edge and slight bumping to spine extremities. Internally, the book is in generally good, clean condition commensurate with age, firm binding and no inscriptions, tears, creases or significant marks. Tanning and some foxing to endpapers and foxing spots to title page and a few subsequent text pages. Slight binding exposure on hinge at page 26 but firmness and security not affected. The unclipped dustjacket (showing 1943 price of 20/-net) is complete but in well shelf-worn condition with creasing, chipping and rubbing to edges, various tears including closed tear to bottom of spine, a 2 inch tear (with loss) to middle of spine and two 2-inch tears to top edge of front and chipping along back top edge and top of spine. Wonderful edition with six tipped in colour plates and b&w reproductions of all the paintings and drawings of Velazquez. A very impressive production.
