The Purple Cloud tells the bleak story of Adam Jeffson: the first man to reach the North Pole and the last man left alive on earth. A sweet-smelling, deadly cloud of poisonous gas has devastated the world, and as Jeffson travels the stricken planet in search of human life, he slowly succumbs to madness.
Cover in red cloth boards with gilt titling to spine in good condition. Slight fading to spine extremities and bottom of upper and lower cover. Slight bumping to spine extremities. Internally the book is in generally good clean condition, with some minor staining to the upper endpapers. FFEP has an open tear with a price inscription and library stamp. The binding is firm and secure apart from page 287 where there is webbing visible. The dustjacket has some little nicks and chips to the top edge of the spine. It is in a removable clear plastic sleeve which as a few age related marks. Dustjacket not price clipped. Overall a very interesting masterpiece of science fiction.
