Product description

6 volume set from Bohn's Historical Library series. Vol. 1 - 1891 (stated to be "Revised Edition"); Vol. 2 - 1893; Vol. 3 - 1892; Vol. 4 - 1895 (stated to be "A New Edition Carefully Revised and Augmented"); Vol. 5 - 1892; Vol. 6 - 1889. Dark blue boards with blind stamped front cover, and gilt titling to spine. The boards are rubbed and stained, with some fading to the spines (although gilt is still reasonably bright). Heads and tails of spines are crushed, with some significant chips and tears. There is a 6 cm tear to the front spinal margin of Vol. 1. Board edges have heavy rubbing. Corners are bumped. The ffep has been removed from each volume, and there is staining to the remaining end papers. The half title page and frontispiece are loose in Vols. 1 and 5, and almost detached in Vol. 6. Title page and frontispiece of each volumes is quite heavily foxed, and there is some light foxing to page edges. There is a significant hinge split in Vol 3 (hinge is held together by only a few threads) and also Vol 5 (hinge is held together by only a single thread). There is a 6 cm closed tear to the margin of each of pages 415 and 571 in Vol. 3, which also has some chipping to the fore edges of some other pages (possibly from roughly separating uncut pages).
