Murray was the eccentric natural son of the second Duke of Buckingham.)Attractive little book, published by Routledge in 1854: First Edition.215 pages plus 8 prelims. 4 inches by 6 inches.34 discursive and mildly amusing essays, largely but not exclusively about his travels, beginning: "I am one of those individuals who are born to great expectations, and who are almost certain to be made uncomfortable at some time of their lives in consequence."Both boards have a blind-stamped design on leather and there is a red title-label to the spine. The rather fragile spine is complete but has partly detached before being glued back into place. Marbled end-papers front and back with original owners printed label inside the front board: Oswald A Smith with arms "Tenax in Fide".In good strong condition for its age with no marks, stains or foxing.
