A text in which are described "the means and instruments of obtaining every virtue, and the remedies against every vice, and considerations serving to the resisting of all temptations". Together with "prayers containing the whole duty of a Christian, and the parts of devotion fitted to all occasions, and furnished for all necessities".
A book dedicated to "Richard Lord Vaughan, Earl of Carberry". The contents include four chapters including Charity, Justice and Christian Religion- faith, hope, charity, fasting, festivals, prayer, alms, repentance.
CONDITION: Full Leather. Book. Full tan leather covers, black lined geometric frame to covers, black decorated 6-segment spine with brown leather. Covers are scuffed to front and rear and worn-through at corners but the leather is without splits or cracks. End pages are marbled and some have foxing. Binding quality good.
Frontis page portrait is marbled. Coloured "woodcut" title page has some staining. Two dedications on the frontis pages, 1849 and 1888. The internal pages are clean but annotated on select pages in pencil. Gilt page edges bright but with some markings.
