The Seaside Holiday - The History of the English Seaside Resort

£4.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

In this entertaining and revealing piece of social history, Anthony Hern has provided us with the story of the origin, rise and growth of the English Seaside Resport and how in effect, towns such as Brighton, Southend, Eastbourne, Blackpool and many others were transformed over a relatively short space of time from small fishing villages or hamlets into the large holiday centres they are today.

The author has put words on paper and been paid for it practically since he was born in 1916 and was Literary Editor of the Evening Standard for five years.

The book itself is in good condition, and is in a beautiful green hessian hardback cover. The pages are all clean and there are several black and white photographs. The final free end page has a marking in pencil '9.50 F61'. The dustjacket is a little worn at the bottom and top around the spine and there are two tears at the top, the larger of which has been repaired with sellotape.
