The Soviet Union at the United Nations: An inquiry into Soviet motives and objectives

£14.99

Product description

In this important book by an eminent specialist on Soviet foreign policy, the place of the United Nations in overall Soviet world strategy is assessed. At the time this book was written, the Soviet Union seemed to be committed to making the most of the opportunities offered by the U.N. - primarily as a propaganda forum in the Cold War - while denying its right and ability to circumscribe or limit Soviet action either within or outside the Communist bloc. Professor Dallin analyses this strategy in the context of the historical antecedents for Soviet participation in international organizations; the Soviet record during the first decade and a half of the U.N.'s existence; and Soviet attitudes and behaviour on such key issues as national sovereignty, the veto, and disarmament. In the concluding chapter, he examines the prospects for a new phase of Soviet policy at the U.N at that time.

Very good condition. Red cloth boards are clean and undamaged. Pages are similarly unmarked with clear bright text. The simple paper dust jacket shows some edgewear, has one or two small tears and looks a little grubby, in contrast to the book itself.
