The Stationary Ark

£70.00

Product description

"What we tried to do in Jersey is create a new sort of zoo. I think we have succeeded". In The Stationary Ark Gerald Durrell describes his battles to create his vision of a new sort of zoo at Jersey with descriptions of his successes and failures with a liberal sprinkling of zoo animal tales on the way.

A Signed first edition which has been protected by a glassine cover. On the front and rear free end papers are the slight residues of the edges of sticky tape which was used to secure the glassine and there are some faint light foxing lines on the leading and upper text block edges. Apart from these marks the book appears in excellent condition. Price clipped. Pages are clean and bright and there are 23 clear b/w photographs plus drawings among the text. A gift dedication is neatly written at the top of the half-title and Gerald Durrell has signed the title page with a Dec. 1976 date.
