"The Works of Mr. Francis Rabelais Doctor in Physick. Containing five books of the Lives, Heroick Deeds and Sayings of Gargantua and his Sonne, Pantagruel." Published by the Navarre Society in two volumes in 1921. Illustrated throughout by W. Heath Robinson. (The Navarre Society was a book society publisher of the 1930s and 40s perhaps rather like Folio which itself began in 1938.) Two very good quality books in ivory coloured boards with ornate gilt decoration. Gilt to top page edges. Deckle edge - see seven attached images. Some spotting and browning but clean and bright inside, tight and square, no missing or loose pages. No marks or inscriptions. Not ex-library.
