The World of the Children by Stuart Miall, published by The Caxton Publishing Company, in four volumes in 1948, second reprint, June 1949. Four hardback green volumes with gilt lettering to front board and spine, blind stamping to front board. Heavy books.

Aimed at children under 11 years old the 4 volumes have black and white photographs and illustrations throughout. Slight foxing on end pages, green fleck to side page edges.

Volume 1 Contents: Early days, home and family, In the country and Early Schooling. 350 pages with 8 pages of colour prints at the end.
Volume 2 Contents: Figures made easy, The young traveller and the young engineer. 390 pages. Small ink stain on front fly page
Volume 3 Contents: The Young Scientist including mechanics, sound, light, heat, air and water, magnetism and electricity. 418 pages. pages 389 - 390 loose but complete. Binding good but inside front cover tear reveals webbing.
Volume 4 Contents: Home entertainments, The fine arts, Man's place in nature. The index on pages 319 - 338 is to all 4 volumes. 338 pages.
