Four issues of The Yorkshire Ramblers' Club Journal, numbers 1 to 4, published between 1899 and 1902, which together comprise Volume I of the Journal. There is also a separate, uncut, Index and table of Contents. The issues are bound in green hard covers, which are quite heavily stained, with an illustration of mountaineers on the front cover, gilt titling to the spine, and the emblem of The Yorkshire Ramblers' Club in black on the rear cover. The corners are rubbed and bumped, the head and tail of the spine lightly crushed, and there is some rubbing and wear to the edges. The rear hinge is weakening. The endpapers and pastedowns are patterned green. The pages are rough-cut, with gilt upper page edges. The pages are slightly tanned, and have only an occasional mark or light spotting (there are a few more pronounced small stains on page 22, page 30 and pages 42-45). The book smells slightly musty, but there is no evidence of damp. This is a scarce book which is in overall good condition.
