From 1881, Thomas Hardy was involved in the society for the protection of ancient buildings. This book shows his involvement in 16 cases focusing on Hardy's letters to the society and his reflection upon his own early career in architecture.
The cases included in the book are based in Wimborne, Stratton, Toller Porcorum, Lulwrth, Maiden Newton, Dorchester, South Perrott, Abbotsbury, Puddletown, Constatinople, Symondsbury, Sherborne, Stoke Poges and Winterborne Tomson.
The book includes text, photographs, line drawings, diagrams, plans and scanned copies of original handwriting. Thsi is a light weight book, but is heavy in detailed content.
As new, donated direct from the publisher. The book is in excellent condition although has slight bowing from storage when with the publisher. The book is clean with bright, crisp pages and no markings on internal pages or cover pages. The binding of the book is tight, with no spine creases and shows no sign of shelf wear.
