Three Caravan Cities: Petra - Jerash - Baalbek and St. Catherine's Monastery Sinai

£200.00

Product description

Three Caravan Cities: Petra - Jerash - Baalbek and St. Catherine's Monastery Sinai - Paul Gotch
Alexandria: Whitehead Morris (Egypt). first edition 1945. pp 123.

The dust jacket is badly torn to all edges and there is a 10 x 10cm piece missing from the front face. What remains is pleasingly smooth but the spine is sunned.
Paper covered card boards, very good: a little soiled; all edges and corners intact. Spine ends soiled.
Paste down map of the Near East. closed tear extends across left side: the front cover has clearly been bent outwards at some time, breaking the frail paper. This failure is barely visible from the front face. Inner hinge cracking but still very good.
Frontispiece plate of the author and his colleagues amongst the stones. Many b/w plates and line diagrams of the World Heritage Sites, all on frail tanned paper.

A rare title, with dust jacket. The author was a well known archaeologist in the region who worked at many sites of national significance.

Wonder how this unique item ended up online?

Most of the second-hand items you see online have been donated, by supporters like you, to our high street stores. Each item is then priced, photographed and listed on this site by our amazing team of volunteers from across the country.

After you have bought your item, our team of volunteers package and dispatch it from the Shop straight to you or your chosen recipient.

All profits from the sales of our goods go towards funding Oxfam's work around the world. We rely on your donations to sell online so please keep the cycle of goodness going!

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
