The Qing Dynasty was the last empire to rule China. The Qing reigned between 1644 and 1912, after overthrowing the Ming dynasty, and was the second major empire to be ruled by an ethnic group other than the dominant Han Chinese. Spanning over three hundred years the Manchu ruled Qing dynasty faced many challenges as well as successes, economically, socially and politically, on both domestic and international fronts, the latter of which contributed to its eventual demise.
