Tobacco

£19.99

Product description

At the time of its publication this was believed to be the only up-to-date book which covered the whole subject of the growing and processing of tobacco as a world crop. It gives a complete description of all stages, followed at the time, of the production of cigarette, cigar and pipe tobacco from the early culture of the leaf to the point at which the finished product was ready for the consumer.

The material has been arranged so that each of the major tobacco types is considered separately. This method was adopted in order to give emphasis to the cumulative effect of differing procedures in providing particular smoking characteristics. In the final section, which deals with the chemical and technological aspects of the subject, stress has been laid on the distinctions between the products of different environments.

The book includes over 50 B&W photographic illustrations.

Very good condition. Black cloth boards are unmarked and pages are clean with no damage and bright text and illustrations. Ownership inscription on front pastedown. There is a 1cm closed tear and rubbing close to the tail of the spine on the dust jacket which otherwise shows only minor edgewear. (NB Photographs show the actual item for sale.)
