Used, good condition, soft cover, published 1969.
The book provides a graded course in transposition - it begins with the simplest melodies, then works up to four-part music as in hymn tunes, continues with simple pianoforte music, including accompaniments, and concludes with a chapter on elementary score-reading. As one of its main objects is to help students pass examination tests, which normally must not exceed a very moderate standard of difficulty, all the examples and exercises - except the quotations from orchestra scores - are constructed on academical principles, with unadventurous harmony and modulation through well-worn channels.
This is an ex library book but, although it contains stamps to show the library name, it does not have any other markings throughout the book. The cover shows signs of wear - there is some tanning and all corners and the top and bottom of the spine show signs of bumping. There is wear to the edges of the spine but the spine and binding are still fully intact. The front cover has a number written in the bottom left corner (presumably library related). There is a bookplate stuck on the inside front page but otherwise all the pages are clean and unmarked.
