Travels of a Chinese Poet : Tu Fu, Guest of Rivers and Lakes AD 712-770 - Volume II AD 759-770 [1934]

£70.00

Product description

Published in 1934 by Jonathan Cape.

Tu Fu is regarded by many Chinese as that country's greatest poet lived from 712 to 770 AD. This is Florence Ayscough's second volume of biography covering the period 759 until his death in 770. As well as the biography it includes numerous examples of Tu Fu's poetry in the text and is illustrated with etchings by Lucille Douglas.

There is an inscription in the front that reads: 'To Jean' Here's wishing you lots of balmy days and a very jolly Christmas, Marjorie'.

A number of the pages are still unopened.

Complete with original unclipped dust jacket. The dust jacket does have some wear and is rather tanned, however the boards and pages are in a very clean condition with a sound binding.
