Virtue's Household Physician: A Twentieth Century Medica

£34.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

This five-volume set is a fairly detailed encyclopedia of medicine for the layman, written in the early twentieth century. (At the risk of stating the obvious, it would probably not be a good idea to treat this as a reliable source of medical knowledge.) This is the "new and revised edition" from 1924. It is a half-buckram copy with green cloth boards and gilt lettering on the spine. Condition: the covers of all these copies display some fairly heavy shelf-wear; they are affected by some moderate marking, rubbing, and corner-bumping. The books' edges show some heavy discolouration. The interior pages suffer from some mild staining and rubbing throughout, although all the text appears to be fully legible. The bindings have become slightly loose in some places, but are acceptable. Overall, these books are in fair condition.
