Wayside Trees of Malaya, Two Volumes

£175.00

Product description

Second edition 1952, uncommon book. This is a complete two volume set of this publication. Both volumes have green cloth hard covers with black illustration on the fronts, gilt titles on the spines. Slight edge wear plus bumping at the base of vol I spine. Both volumes have a nameplate fixed to the front pastedown and a small rubber stamp for Caxton press Kuala Lumpur at the lower right corner of the first free endpaper. The endpapers, text pages and protective tissues all have some tanning and the page edges have some foxing. No inscriptions, binding is good. Volume one contains the text and text-figures; volume two is printed on good quality paper which has resisted ageing and contains all the photographic plates, each of which has a tissue guard. The dust jackets are a paler green than the hard covers and carry the same black illustration; both spines are tanned and both have edge wear with short tears and chipping at the tops of the spines and the base of vol I spine; the back of vol I jacket has a pale brown splash mark and several tiny brown dots. A botanical guide to the trees of Malaysia with species keys, descriptive terms, plenty of detail. The text in vol I is cross-referenced to the plates in Vol II.

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
