Wayside & Woodland Fungi

£34.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

An attractively produced book which was written to provide useful information for amateur naturalists and students of biology who want to learn something about the fungi and toadstools of our countryside. The book was published in 1967 and this is the 1978 reprint. It contains simple keys for the identification of common species and gives scientific names. Valuable information is provided on the uses and harmful properties of fungi, and the role of the amateur mycologist.

Of special interest are the 59 colour illustrations of fungi by Beatrix Potter, reproduced from her watercolour paintings preserved in the Armitt Library at Ambleside, Westmorland; also there are 28 by R. B. Davis and 20 by E. C. Large. In addition there are 19 b/w photographs and 8 line drawings.

The book has blue boards and gilt titles; corners and spine ends are lightly bumped and text block edges have faint minor marks. Inside pages are clean and bight. The jacket has some light general marks and indentations on the glossy surface and slight creasing to edges and corners; small nick, approx. 4mm, to upper front edge. The lettering of 'Fungi' on the spine is sunned.
