Product description

A Section from the blurb

"This is a tale of a farmer`s wife who fought the Prince of Wales. She was a tenant on the royal estate of Sandringham. She had been married less than four years when her husband and her daughter died. She was left alone with a baby son. For the sake of her child, she decided to run the farm of 900 acres and 1200 stock single-handed. This pioneer of "Women`s Lib." would have won her battle but for the Prince`s love of shooting. As he demanded vast "bags", the estate was overrun with pheasants and hares, and they feasted on her crops. On the days of the great Society battues all work on her farm to stop. It was a clash of character and interest between a brave woman and an egotistical and pleasure seeking Prince. It was a hot-cold relationship. Sometimes he flattered her, wooed her. Sometimes he poured his angry abuses on her. He tried to make her a sycophant, but she would not bend to the knee. In the end she was defeated. She was sole up - lost her home, her animals, her livelihood, everything that she loved. And, in exile in America, she too her revenge on the most powerful Prince in all Europe - the man who became King Edward the Seventh."

Excellent pages with slight edge-wear. Includes dust-jacket in good condition.
