£40.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

This is a brief outline history of the Merchant Navy, with a focus on the Second World War and includes some moving accounts of this time in the Merchant Navy by the author, Charles Jarman. The wonderful colour illustrations (paintings) by Frank H Mason illustrate the text on every page. They include 'Preparing Merchant Liners For War Service', 'Convoy Assembling', 'The Zig-Zag', 'Attack on the Convoy', 'Landing Munitions and Stores', 'The Malta Convoy Arrives'.

The boards are illustrated front and rear with a colour painting of a convoy at sunset. The title is in large orange and yellow lettering at the top of the front cover, with the publisher in white lettering at the bottom of the front cover and in yellow at the bottom of the back cover. The insignia of the Merchant Navy is in the top left hand corner of the front cover. The boards have very slight wear around the edges. Some of the hinges in the centre of the pages have rust marks. The pages are generally clean and the illustrations are bright and clear. The binding is good.

A must for collector's of maritime history or maritime art.
