Young Maids & Old China

£45.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Young Maids & Old China. F.W. Bourdillon
Published by Marcus Ward & Co Limited. pp 32 (unpaginated)

The book has no publication date but the hard to read title page dedication from Mrs. Pownall to Cicely is dated 1898. Later book plate of George Drye (a Northampton figure.)

No dust jacket. Paper covered card; rather worn all over. The faces are unusual in pink and blue with gilt highlights, and would have been quite elegant when new. Block edges are powder blue, but now losing their colour.

Quarter bound in brown cloth. Very attractive vintage pastel artwork by J.G Sowerby depicting a young maid, with surrounding paintings of porcelain. All very dainty. Some cracking inside the block. At some time in the past a glass or cup left its mark on the rear face

The book is full of short poems and whimsical narratives in brown ink with navy titles.

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
