18 UK First Day Covers Together with 10 from Southern Africa

£8.99

Product description

The addresses on all these first day covers have been cut from the envelopes leaving them somewhat mutilated. However the stamps are all in good condition and in almost all cases the event that was being celebrated is clear. Both the UK and the southern Africa covers date from the 1970's. Events celebrated by the UK stamps include the 62nd Inter-parliamentary Conference in 1975, Social Reformers in 1976, the Silver Jubilee in 1977 and British Wildlife in 1977. The southern African stamps include one from 1976 for Transkei, two from South West Africa and eight from the Republic of South Africa. These include one from one from 1976 for Emily Hobhouse and one from 1979 commemorating the Zulu War.
