Antique 1800s Black Silk and Embroidered Floral Evening Shoes

These stunning antique shoes are by Marshall & Snelgrove of Verve Street and Oxford Street. James Marshall had been in business in Verve Street since 1837 and in 1848 due to the retirement of his partner; John Snelgrove joined as his business partner, making it Marshall & Snelgrove. The business was a rapid success and soon expanded to Oxford Street in 1851, the business continued to grow and from 1871 expanded to cities such as Harrogate and Scarborough. These shoes date between 1851 and 1871. They have there stamp and size still fully visible and the shoe makers writing can still be seen on one of the shoes soles. The fastening of these shoes have a gorgeous diamond stud.
There is damage to these shoes which is to be expected from the age but they are still incredibly charming and would make an excellent collection piece.
