South Africa is an amazing country! It overflows with resources, environmental treasures and world-class infrastructure. But this beauty is in many places only skin deep, and more than 50% of South Africans live in poverty. Because many measures show us to be a middle-income country, however, international aid is falling and providing the assistance a developing country requires can be tough.

So Oxfam works tirelessly here to ensure that the voices of poor South Africans are heard and the promise of the Rainbow Nation can be achieved. To that end, my job is mainly to help civil society groups engage with the South African government.
