Justgiving

E-fundraising is quick, efficient, and cost-effective. Not only can you pay in money as you go, but online sponsors tend to give more.

  1. Go to the Justgiving website and choose the London Marathon option
  2. Fill in your details to create your account
  3. Choose your web address – and add any additional info to your fundraising page if you fancy, then your page is up, running, and ready to start raising money.
  4. Justgiving will send you an email with handy hints and tips that are worth taking a look at. You can set up your page to send you an email whenever anyone makes a donation, and because the funds go direct to Oxfam, there’s no admin for you to do.

E-fundraising is also one of the safest ways to make a donation, and all online payments go through the highest possible security protocols to protect against fraud. You can contact Justgiving through their website or call free on 0845 021 2110 Mon – Fri 9am until 6pm.

Why run with Oxfam?

There are a few things we’d like to give you...

Oxfam marathon runner. Photo: OxfamThe moment you decide to run the marathon with Oxfam, you officially become a hero. So we like to treat you like one.

We’ll be there for you from the very moment you sign up right through to our post-race reception – just a few paces from the finishing line at the British Academy.

All our runners can look forward to:

Before the big day

  • A briefing where you’ll be given expert advice about training, nutrition, and fundraising.
  • A direct number for our ever-friendly fundraising support team.
  • Monthly training tips by email
  • A fundraising poster that makes it ludicrously easy to raise £150.
  • Details about www.justgiving.com where you can set up a fundraising webpage guaranteed to make your life easier and help the money come flooding in.
  • The Oxfam running vest, in all its glory (make sure you wear it in before the marathon).
  • Access to Oxfam’s Facebook page for runners.

During the run

  • The excited cheers of dedicated Oxfam supporters, who’s only mission for the day is to put a spring in your step.

And in the afterglow of success

  • Neil Jones getting a massage from an Oxfam volunteer after the race. Photo: OxfamEntry to the post-race reception for Oxfam runners. Held at the British Academy, which overlooks the finish, it’s the perfect place to eat, drink and be massaged, and to meet up with your friends and family.
  • A nice, clean souvenir T-shirt, for you to show off in.
  • A certificate to commemorate your achievement.

Run for Oxfam in the 2010 London Marathon

Your legs are worth a lot to a lot of people...

Volunteers cheering for Oxfam marathon runners. Photo: OxfamRun the Virgin London Marathon with Oxfam and it won’t just be your life that changes. So if you need a bit of inspiration during one of your training runs, just think about this...

Raise £800 and your money could buy 2,500 sachets of rehydration salts and 150 mosquito nets – simple things that save lives.

Raise £1,500 and your money could buy 11 bicycle ambulances, so that doctors and nurses in places like Malawi can wheel their way to remote villages and help people live healthy lives.

Raise £2,500 and your money could be used in an emergency, to buy five shelters for large families, five tapstands with six taps, five sets of 20 blankets and 6,400 all-purpose bars of soap.

It’s simple really. By running the Virgin London Marathon, you’ll change people’s lives.
