Let's make South Sudan famous for its epic landscapes, not hunger.
With better infrastructure and security, South Sudan’s farmers could easily grow enough food for all. We work closely with farmers and women’s groups, providing them with seeds and tools to grow more.

  • <strong>Let's make Bolivia famous for its golden fields...</strong> Oxfam is working with farmers in flood-prone Beni in Bolivia, to reintroduce a 3000-year-old farming technique that uses raised fields to protect crops from flooding, and improve soil fertility and productivity. Fish are farmed in the surrounding channels.
  • <strong>Let's make Kenya famous for its food markets, not food shortages...</strong> One Oxfam project in Kenya supports pastoralist women in the arid Turkana region with equipment, training and irrigation. They grow nutritious food and sell the surplus at market - Food for All even in the very harshest of environments.
  • <strong>Let’s make Sri Lanka famous for its pristine beaches...</strong> After the brutal civil war ended in 2009, many in northern Sri Lanka returned home, without skills, to ruined land. Oxfam set up 9 co-operatives and organised training and microfinance to give over 4,500 people new livelihoods as dairy farmers.
  • <strong>Let's make Azerbaijan famous for its wide open spaces… </strong> Oxfam is working with around 3,000 farming families to improve the way they produce, process and market what they grow. As a result, they are able to access local, and regional markets and make a decent living.
  • <strong>Let's make Laos famous for its teeming rivers...</strong> Changing weather patterns are making it increasingly difficult for many people in Laos to feed their families. Oxfam is helping communities grow more, set up rice banks, look after the health of their livestock, and develop alternative sources of income.
  • <strong>Let's make Liberia famous for its fertile lowlands…</strong> Here in River Gee county, land is in short supply. Oxfam has built irrigation channels and supplied tools and clothing so farmers can grow food on swamp land. Crops are now nearer to their homes and less vulnerable to pests which don't like the swamps.
  • <strong>Let's make Mali famous for its glorious sunsets…</strong> Oxfam has been working with 200,000 poor farmers, especially women, in cotton growing areas in the south of Mali. We’re helping them diversify and promote alternative crops so that they have a more stable source of income.
