An essential part of the Trailwalker charity events are the fantastic volunteers, who play a key role in making the event a success.
For 2010 we need over 200 of them, so let us know if you're interested and we will get back to you. You’ll be making a real contribution to Oxfam’s work, while having a memorable and worthwhile weekend.

Where the money goes
We know that most people take on Trailwalker for the challenge, but also that you care where your money goes and that we are using it well.
By supporting Oxfam through your efforts in one of our charity events, we can further our work of supporting people working their way out of poverty.
Your help really makes a vital difference. Together 100km events around the world have raised over £45m.
Live feed
On the day of the event we host a live blog that allows your supporters from around the world to send messages of encouragement. You can then tweet back from the trail for everyone involved to see how you’re getting on. This feature proved really successful in 2009 and is an ideal way for your supporters to get an idea of what you’re going through.

Team Area
Here you will find all the resources you need to get your team together and your fundraising started. Trailwalker is the ultimate team challenge and takes place around the world.
Who is Trailwalker for?
Trailwalker is a team challenge for everyone. Well almost everyone.
You need to be over 18 on the day of the event and need to be reasonably fit. Trailwalker charity events are not just for the super fit (although plenty of super-fit people do take part).
Every year we have teams from all backgrounds and all shapes and sizes. And to help as many people finish as possible we provide lots of training advice, including training guides for all levels of walker.
What makes up a team?
One team leader. To organise and prepare the team, to act as the main point of contact with Oxfam, to lift team spirits during training and the challenge. An all-round good egg.
Three fellow walkers. To complete your walking team. Make sure everyone brings a quality to the team, whether it’s energy, enthusiasm, organisational skills, fundraising ideas, map-reading skills, or an endless stream of amusing chat.
One support crew. You need a crack team of friends and family to be your support crew. You can’t complete Trailwalker without one – and not just because we won’t let you! Your support crew will supply you with food, extra water, minor medical supplies, seats, shade, and encouragement. You’ll need them to pack your tent at the start, ferry your waterproofs around in the middle, cheer you over the finishing line, and carry you home when you can’t walk any more. We can’t emphasise enough how important these people are.
What’s in it for you?
You mean apart from the massive sense of achievement, and profound feeling of making a difference in the world?
Well, we’ll look after you and your teammates on every step of your Trailwalker journey with heaps of advice, support and facilities.
During the challenge we’ll look after you at checkpoints and water stops. We’ll keep you watered, fed, first-aided and motivated. We’ll even give you a fantastic Trailwalker tee shirt to wear during the challenge.
And once you finished the sense of achievement stays with you.
There’s also a special Trailwalker celebration evening, where we give out a great range of prizes and awards.

Trailwalker likes…
If your experience of walking is from your office to the bus stop, or you have completed Trailwalker in the past, these walking videos will have plenty you haven’t heard of yet. And if you need some new boots or gear in general check out these forums.
These promotional codes may save you a few quid as well (why not donate the savings to your fundraising?). Once you have all your kit, you might start thinking about using it and getting out on some training walks. Endomondo has just launched but there are plenty of alternatives. The Long Distance Walking Association (LDWA) also has a good forum.
