Tackling inequality starts with making those at the top pay their fair share. This wealth tax is just an example of more taxes we need. We should be taxing the super-rich to tackle inequality and fight the climate crisis, and we will be pushing for more taxes in the future. If the wealthiest paid a little more in taxes (it’s just small change for them), that money could fund healthcare, education, fair wages, and protection from the climate crisis. Let's come together and make this right.

So, are you in? It’s time to tax the super-rich. Demand a Wealth Tax Today!

Letter to Chancellor Rachel Reeves

Dear Chancellor Rachel Reeves,

We, the undersigned, are outraged by the government’s failure to act with urgency in the face of the climate crisis. Every day, every year you delay taking action means more lives lost, more communities devastated, and more costs pushed onto ordinary people, all while the super-rich continue to profit.

We refuse to stand by while inequality deepens, and the planet burns. The UK must step up — and that starts with taxing extreme wealth.

We are calling on you to introduce a 2% annual tax on net wealth above £10 million. This fair and necessary measure could raise an estimated £24 billion every year — money that should no longer sit idle in the hands of a tiny few, but be used to:

  • Just Transition: Help deliver a just transition here in the UK. For starters, fund measures such as a mass home insulation programme to cut emissions and lower energy bills. Plus set up a permanent mechanism that holds the Government to account on its net zero commitments across many sectors.
  • Climate Finance: Provide real, grant-based support to countries already paying the highest price for a crisis they did least to cause. Support them to adapt, cut emissions, and recover from climate disasters.

It is obscene that the wealthiest in society can accumulate fortunes while millions struggle with unaffordable energy bills and vulnerable communities worldwide face floods, droughts, and famine. A wealth tax is not radical — it is the bare minimum of fairness.

The UK has an historic opportunity to show global leadership, but this takes courage — the courage to stand up to vested interests and put people and planet before profit.

Chancellor, you have the power to make this change. By introducing a wealth tax dedicated to a Just Transition and Climate Action, you would show true leadership. Please demonstrate to the world that you care about the planet and its people in the face of this spiraling climate crisis.

This approach is fair, necessary, and achievable.
Now is the time, we urge you to act.
